Clubhouse: Integrated into the hangar line on Row D, our clubhouse offers ADA restrooms, a commercial kitchen, a conference room, and soft-seating areas. The clubhouse also features an elevated observation deck overlooking the runway, the perfect place for outdoor events or cookouts. In addition, there will be a wash rack for the exclusive use of our hangar owners.

Frederick Municipal Airport FAQ

When are the hangars going to be available?

The city of Frederick requires a 12-month permitting process, which we began early 2025. That means that as we move through the process, it is likely we will break ground early 2026. The construction cycle is typically an additional 9 to 11 months. Our goal is to deliver completed hangars in Q4 of 2026.

High Flying Hangars uses local talent. We’ve engaged a very capable contractor in Maryland, who is familiar with Frederick, and they are currently bidding all aspects of the hangar construction. It is important to us to use local experts who are familiar with local planning and zoning requirements. When these bids are finalized, we will update all reservation holders as to the anticipated pricing.

Our projects are unique in that we sell hangars on leased land. We always negotiate at least a 40-year lease term, which is generally the maximum allowable lease term by the FAA. This allows for banks to offer 20-year commercial loans, if you are interested in financing your hangar.

No, instead, we have a hands-on approach where we handle everything on behalf of the owner. We collect the ground rent, pro-rated water/sewer/trash, pro-rated electrical, insurance, and CAM (common area maintenance), which we then invoice the owners for. Owners utilize our easy-to-use app to submit these fees monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually (whichever is more convenient for you).

As outlined by the FAA, the primary purpose of an aircraft hangar is aircraft storage. If a hangar is serving its primary purpose – the storage of aircraft – then storage of non-aeronautical items in the hangar does not violate the airport sponsor’s federal obligations.

Yes, absolutely! Our Clubhouse offers premium amenities to all hangar owners. The idea behind our Clubhouse model is to create community – a place where you can hold events, celebrate your friend’s new instrument rating, watch from the observation deck as a new pilot returns from their first solo flight, and so much more!
